The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has been conducting a number of ongoing public consultations over the summer, many of which are still open or have been extended to facilitate greater involvement.

In fisheries, the Commission is seeking feedback from stakeholders on the Fishing Opportunities for 2016 under the reformed CFP (you can see Seas At Risk and the Fisheries Secretariat’s latest briefinghere), as well as the Multi-Annual Plans for demersal fisheries in western waters, and the Northern Adriatic Sea small pelagic fisheries.

As announced at the start of the summer by Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Karmenu Vella, the Commission is also seeking feedback on the crucial issue of international ocean governance, announced after the last meeting of the G7 in Germany. The Commission announced last week that the consultation has been extended until 15th October to facilitate maximum involvement.
