Internship opportunities

Apart from our open positions, we offer diverse and enriching opportunities for individuals interested in ocean issues as learning interns or trainees. Please read the following information carefully before submitting your interest.

Please note: We receive many more applications than we can accept, so our ability to respond favourably will depend on your background as well as the availability and capacity to onboard interns and trainees.

Our internship policy is guided by four principles:

  • Learning and development: We provide people with training, mentorship, and resources to enhance their skills, expand their knowledge, and prepare them for future endeavours within ocean issues.
  • Mutual benefit: We believe that the experience should be meaningful for both parties. This means providing people with meaningful real-world experience and tangible outcomes as well as Seas At Risk benefitting from fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and new energy.
  • Diversity and inclusion: We celebrate diversity in all its forms and are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives.
  • Social responsibility: We are committed to combatting exploitation and unfair work relationships and actively promote a healthy work-life balance irrespective of working category. No interns shall be used to replace employees or contractors.

We offer two types of internships:
