Monica has led Seas At Risk since 2007. For more than three decades, she has advanced ocean protection in a variety of roles, building and guiding coalitions of environmental organisations and helping secure policy advances at national, European, regional and UN levels. Over this time, she has also helped shape the growth and evolution of Seas At Risk. She holds a PhD in biology, and her passion for the ocean was sparked while studying narwhals in the Arctic.
