Sian has a B.Sc. in marine biology and oceanography and a Ph.D. in marine biochemistry and is a marine policy specialist focused on ocean governance and ecosystem-based management. She has worked for and advised a number of marine environmental groups and coalitions including the Clean Arctic Alliance (a coalition hosted by Seas At Risk), the Antarctic & Southern Ocean Coalition and WWF. Sian has over 30 years of experience working for the non-governmental sector – both environmental and commercial and has been seconded to government positions. She regularly participates in UN and regional policy frameworks, including the International Maritime Organization.
