The North Sea Foundation, Deutsche Umwelthilfe, Seas At Risk, and WWF Belgium, WWF Denmark, WWF Germany, and WWF EU are launching the North Sea Alliance to ensure a nature-based development of offshore renewable energy in the North Sea. The Alliance brings together leading environmental organisations to provide science-based, strategic input into offshore wind deployment and maritime governance across the North Sea basin.

The Alliance will support North Sea countries to:

1. deliver ecosystem-based marine spatial planning that meets both nature and energy targets;

2. apply best practices and robust monitoring standards to minimise cumulative pressures on the North Sea ecosystems.

Acting as a coordinated civil society platform, the Alliance will engage in key regional processes, including the Greater North Sea Basin Initiative and the North Seas Energy Cooperation, to promote a healthy and climate-resilient North Sea.

The Alliance stands ready to help translate these commitments into concrete action. In this context, the Alliance is looking forward to engaging with the different national, regional and European stakeholders participating in the Summit and interested in working towards a healthy North Sea.
