Bycatch is the single largest cause of harm and death to common dolphins, killing thousands every year.

Since the year 2000, an estimated 65,000 dolphins have died in fishing nets in the Bay of Biscay.

Time is of the essence as we are approaching the winter months. During this time dolphins are most at risk of dying in fishing nets and to date Member States have failed to put measures in place that would protect the dolphins.

We are calling on Virginijus Sinkevičius, EU Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, to take urgent action to end this cruel and avoidable mass slaughter of these highly intelligent and much-loved animals.

Please sign this petition to help save short-beaked common dolphins.
