Three years after the launch of the Blue Manifesto*, Brussels-based marine NGOs will present the results of the 2022 Blue Manifesto assessment to track the EU’s progress and failure in delivering a healthy and climate-resilient ocean by 2030.

This third annual assessment of the NGOs’ Blue Manifesto comes one year before the 2024 European Parliament elections, which will reshuffle the political landscape of the European Union. It is time to run the last sprint if the European Union wants to create the right basis to achieve the self-set ambitions of “good environmental status” and a healthy Ocean by 2030.

Has the policy ambition increased to meet the magnitude of the challenge? Join marine NGOs and the Head of Cabinet of Commissioner Sinkevičius on World Oceans Day to find out!

*The Blue Manifesto, the roadmap for Europe to deliver a healthy ocean by 2030, was launched in 2020 by the Brussels-based marine NGOs – Seas At Risk, BirdLife Europe, ClientEarth, Oceana, Surfrider Foundation Europe and WWF – and was supported by over 100 NGOs across the EU.  It presents a vision for a thriving ocean to support a climate resilient future and is accompanied by a timeline with a series of yearly milestones to achieve in order to deliver the final blue goal.
