In a world where the costs behind the latest trends are far more than what is written on the price tag, we explore how our global trade system – built on constant consumption and rapid turnover of goods – affects the environment, the economy, and especially the shipping industry. Today, our demand for “stuff” results in enormous amounts of products, including fuels, plastic pellets, plastic textiles and other disposable goods, shipped every day across the world. This system drives overproduction, overconsumption, and high emissions from maritime transport.
