EU Regulation on preventing plastic pellet losses needs mandatory requirements for all operators to reduce microplastic pollution

After much anticipation, the European Commission proposed a regulation on prevent plastic pellet loss to reduce microplastic pollution. Civil society welcomes the proposed measures on pellets, but agrees that a more comprehensive text is needed to truly and significantly reduce microplastic pollution. Seas At Risk, the Environmental Investigation Agency, ECOS, Fidra, Fauna & Flora International, the Rethink Plastic alliance, Surfrider Europe and Pew made joint recommendations to improve the proposal.
